February 5, 2005

Dear Parents,

As we come to a close of yet another exceedingly successful academic year, it gives me immense pride and satisfaction in sharing with you some of our accomplishments in the year gone by as well as aspirations in the years to come.

As in the past few years we reinforced our excellent academic standing nationwide, in the Board Examinations, 2003-2004 with a brilliant record both from the ISC and ICSE classes. A meticulously planned and progressive academic schedule undoubtedly gives us the extra edge.

In the forthcoming academic session I propose to introduce in-house coaching for IIT and Medical aspirants by professionals thereby giving the children an added advantage. It shall remain my endeavour to better ourselves and constantly evolve, keeping in mind that a new vision is vital for our young students in this ever challenging world.

Having felt the paucity of open space for our outdoor activities, I am delighted to inform you that with the acquisition of our two new games fields, both adjoining the School campus our sports facilities have been enormously enhanced. The Junior wing now has for itself their very own play field thus enabling us to host a lot more sports and fun activities. The new field for the Senior section coupled with the joining of a trained cricket instructor has set the cricket fever ablaze in the Brightlands campus. Children interested in taking lessons from trained professionals in various games will have the option of staying back after school hours thus providing the students with ample opportunity. This I am sure will benefit the students greatly in the development of a well rounded personality.

Furthermore we now have another plot adjacent to the Junior play field where I plan to construct a multi-purpose auditorium which shall serve as a pair of basketball and badminton courts as well as provide the perfect space and ambience for all our various cultural and extra-curricular programs.

The significance of co-curricular activities in playing a key role in the overall development of a child is indisputable. I feel gratified in the outstanding performance of our School and would like to elucidate some of our laurels held over the past year in various National level competitions.

In the annual Albert Barrow Memorial All-India Creative Writing Competition, 2004 conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi we had two of our scribes figure among the top ten writers nation wide.

Instituted for the first time in 2004, the Inter- School National Challenge “Speak Out” Outlook Debate was aced by our team as they adroitly made their way into the National Finals speeding comfortably past the top schools of the country as the 1st Runners Up.

Our prolific scholars sailed through grueling rounds of tough competition from the best schools of India to a triumphant National 3rd Position in the All-India Eicher Skyline Quiz, 2004.

It is no mean coincidence that for the third time in a row we've been declared National winners in the INCA National Map Quiz Contest, 2004 organized by the Indian National Cartographic Association, Hyderabad.

In this years TERI sponsored Green Olympiad, TERRA QUIZ, our team qualified the Preliminary Rounds into the National Televised Round where after a stunning delivery in the Quarter Finals, we qualified for the Semi Final Round.

In a frenetic but marvelous display of top-notch quizzing acumen through several rounds, Brightlands proved its mettle once again by emerging North Zone Champions in the prestigious ESPN Quiz.

Pallavi Malik, Class VIII and Droan Malik, Class VII, were both awarded Scholarships worth Rs.5400/- each by the Sports Authority of India for displaying incontestable prowess in Table Tennis. Both players have been champions many times over in various Inter-School and District level Tournaments.

Atishay Jain of Class XI, clinched a position in the NTSE Scholarship for high school education and also received an annual book grant.

For all our accomplishments I am fortunate in having a vibrant and dedicated team of staff members who serve with a single minded aim of imparting diverse and rich tutelage to our students. I shall be committed in my pursuit to offer a satisfying blend of academics and extra curricular activities that will augur well with the demanding society in the years to come. Brightlands is an embodiment of our aspirations and a benediction that should add to the educational excellence.

It is indeed with your good wishes and sustained support that we have achieved much in a relatively short span of time. With God's Blessings and our firmness of purpose, I will continue to take Brightlands from strength to strength.

With best wishes,

Yours sincerely

(Ravi Narang)
